Memories of Dave

I knew he was about the same age as me, but I didn't realize he was only 5 days older than me. Ouch. Some other memories of David Foster Wallace. Salon: Ito and Miller, and from Baltimore, the Guardian and Toronto.

Goodbye, Paul Newman

He got his start in theater and on television during the 1950s, and went on to become one of the world's most enduring and popular film stars, a legend held in awe by his peers. He was nominated for Oscars 10 times, winning one regular award and two honorary ones, and had major roles in more than 50 motion pictures, including "Exodus," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Verdict," "The Sting" and "Absence of Malice." Rest in peace, Paul Newman.

Neal is back

If forced to pick a favorite author right this second, I'd pick Neal Stephenson. And the brainiac's got a new novel coming out next week. And he's coming to Denver at the end of the month. See you there?
