Work, work, work
Ira Glass the radio host has a few videos up on storytelling. I'll direct you creative types to the first half of part 3, in which he talks about the need to be prolific and to (essentially) work through the crap. Good advice, which I should take more often and more seriously. If you want to see all four parts, I believe you can find them here.
